Causes

The causes of Nephrotic Syndrome can be categorized in to two categories.

Primary Nephrotic Syndrome occurs due to certain specific changes in the kidney as listed below –

  • Focal segmental glomerulosclerosis
  • Membranous glomerulonephritis
  • Mesangial proliferative glomerulonephritis
  • Rapidly progressive glomerulonephritis

Secondary nephrotic Syndrome occurs when the kidneys get damaged due to anybody illness. The most common causes include-

  • Diabetic nephropathy
  • Systemic lupus erythematosus
  • Conventional medicines
  • Sarcoidosis
  • Syphilis
  • Hepatitis B
