The elementary cause for corns and calluses is too much pressure and friction on the affected area.
The common causes include-
- Footwear - Tight footwear, High-heeled shoes and wearing shoes without socks.
- Toe deformities- Feet deformities such as hammer-toes result in uneven distribution of pressure on the feet and toes.
- Gait abnormalities- Improper style of walking results in increased pressure at the foot. People afflicted with arthritis and other joint disorders walks in an unusual way which increases the foot pressure at certain points and thus contributes as one of the causes of Corns and calluses.
