Ayurvedic Tips for Healthy Digestion

One of Ayurveda’s strongest prescriptions is to eat only when you’re are hungry. A good appetite is our body’s signal that digestion, assimilation and elimination are working well.

People having normal digestion problems should eat only when his appetite is strong. One of the best ways to quickly restore appetite is to drink freshly grated ginger root tea 2-3 times a day.


Ayurveda in general, recommends the following as some of the guidelines for a healthy digestive system


  1. Only eat when you have an appetite.

  2. Eat fibre rich food

  3. Do not eat to full capacity. Always leave a little room in your stomach after each meal.

  4. Avoid drinking cold fluids in between your meal.

  5. Eat your main meal at noon when the environmental agni is strongest, and eat a lighter meal at night.

  6. Eat in a calm atmosphere and sit down when you eat

  7. When possible, avoid snacks between meals.

  8. Avoid eating just before going to bed.

  9. Once is a week, do fast or eat light to give your digestion a much needed rest.

  10. Avoid foods that are deeply fried or heavy.

  11. Strictly maintain a healthy diet plan.
