Ulcerative Colitis Kollam

About Ulcerative Colitis

Ulcerative colitis is known as ‘Pittaja Grahani’ in Ayurveda. It is a chronic inflammation of the large intestine (colon). Ulcerative colitis occurs when the lining of the large intestine and the rectum become inflamed. This inflammation produces tiny sores called ulcers on the lining of the colon. The symptoms of ulcerative colitis include abdominal pain, increased abdominal sounds, bloody stools, diarrhea, fever, rectal pain, weight loss, malnutrition. It may be caused by genetics, abnormal reaction in the digestive system, stress, diet, bacteria and virus. In Ayurveda, Panchakarma therapy and herbs detoxifies & rejuvenates the digestive system, controls the inflammation, and heals the ulcerations.
