About Tennis Elbow
Tennis elbow or lateral epicondylitis is a common term for a condition caused by overuse of arm, forearm, and hand muscles that result in elbow pain. It is caused by either abrupt or subtle injury of the muscle and tendon area around the outside of the elbow. According to Ayurveda, ‘snayugata vata’ can be correlated with the condition of tennis elbow. Symptoms of tennis elbow include pain around the outside of the elbow, pain when shaking hands or squeezing objects or by stabilizing, moving the wrist with force. Causes of tennis elbow are overuse of the outer part of the elbow, a small or inadequate racquet grip, playing racquet sports with heavy and wet balls, manual jobs such as typing, painting, plumbing, etc. Ayurveda clearly indicates treatment modalities for this condition without surgery. Ayurveda treat the root cause. Special internal medicines along with local external treatment modalities assure maximum long standing results.
