About Paralysis

Paralysis is the loss of the ability to move (and sometimes to feel anything) in part or most of the body, typically as a result of illness, poison, or injury. In Ayurveda, Paralysis is known as ‘Pakshaghat’. Paralysis of the lower half of your body is called paraplegia. Paralysis is due to strokes or injuries such as spinal cord injury or a broken neck. Other causes are trauma, poliomyelitis, cerebral palsy, head injury, peripheral neuropathy, Parkinson’s disease, spina bifida, guillain-barre syndrome. The common symptoms includes loss of consciousness or confusion, clumsiness and numbness, severe headache, difficulty breathing, drooling, difficulty writing or speaking, changes in vision and or hearing.Paralysis can be successfully treated in Ayurveda with the combination of internal medicine and external treatments, early stages in paralysis are curable. Where a complete cure is not feasible, symptoms can be reduced and the condition of the patient can be seen to improve.
