About Hemiplegia

Hemiplegia is a term used to describe paralysis, severe weakness, or rigid movement on either the right or left side of the body. Hemiplegia can also be associated with limited use of the hand, balance issues, speech issues, and visual field problems. In Ayurveda, this condition is known as ‘Pakshaghatha’. Hemiplegia weakens muscle activities and deactivates cell activities on one side of the body. The various cause are stroke, infectious disorders like meningitis etc, hereditary disorders, diabetes, head injury, brain tumor, diseases affecting nerves. The common symptoms includes loss of sensation of one side of the body, tingling sensation in the arms & legs, inability to walk, balance etc, difficulty in swallowing, loss of control of bowel movements, difficulty in speech, blurred vision, decreased memory. Ayurvedic treatments could help cure Hemiplegia in an effective manner. It includes panchakarma procedures pizhichil, navarakizhi, nervous relaxant therapies such shirodhara, shiro basti, shiro pichu, thalapodichil etc
