About Depression

Depression is referred to as ‘Mano Avasad’ in Ayurveda. Depressed mood is generally situational and reactive, and associated with grief, loss, or a major social transition. Depression is a physical illness with many more symptoms than an unhappy mood. Symptoms of depression may also include feelings of helplessness, loss of interest in daily activities, appetite, sleep changes, anger, and reckless behavior. The various causes of depression are loneliness, lack of social support, family problems, financial strain, alcohol or drug abuse, unemployment or underemployment, health problems. Ayurvedic treatment involves medicated herbal oils, massages, panchakarma therapies which help to get relief from depression.
